Engaging in creative activities can reduce stress, improve personal wellbeing, and bring us closer to our coworkers. Pulling from the field of art therapy, painting pumpkins is a seasonal activity that allows staff the opportunity to connect with nature while engaging in activities shown to reduce stress, burnout, anxiety and depression. Artistic endeavors have also been shown to increase team morale and cohesion. The magic is not necessarily in the pumpkins, but rather the benefits come from having the opportunity to engage in a task which is creatively stimulating, allows personal expression, and is conducted in a social setting.
